ORCATECH is dedicated to developing technologies that optimize health and quality of life for our aging population. Technology is likely to be a key factor in enabling elders to live independently and at home until the end of life. Through interactive and cross-disciplinary research, ORCATECH seeks to identify technologies to help meet the challenges of aging. We have centered our research efforts on the key value of maintaining independence in a person's home by creating the concept of a community-base and in-home program for translational research.

In 2004, ORCATECH was awarded a grant as an NIA Roybal Center for Translational Research in Aging. This Roybal grant supports our administrative infrastructure as well as our pilot grant program. ORCATECH was designated in 2005 as an independent research center at Oregon Health & Science University. I encourage you to take some time to explore the information available on this site.
