Since 2001 CareWheels, a Section 501(c)(3)non-profit corporation, has been helping to catalyze the trans-disciplinary development of networked smarthome technology-enhanced strategies for self, familial and professional caregiving. We are collaboratively developing sensor and statistical inference technologies to perform embedded assessment of ADLs and communicate actionable information, to provide both real-time supports and longitudinal evaluations of health and wellness to stakeholders in the caregiving network.

Since 1989 the Layton Aging & Alzheimer's Disease Center at Oregon Health & Science University has been dedicated to addressing Alzheimer's disease and other dementias by providing an integrated program of diagnosis, treatment and research.

REKNEW-AD: Reclaiming Expressive KNowledge in Elders With-Alzheimer's disease

REKNEW-AD is a federally funded center that conducts clinical research in the area of augmentative communication and assistive technology for persons with dementia. REKNEW-AD is located within OHSU's Oregon Institute on Disability and Development and is directed by Drs. Melanie Fried-Oken (speech-language pathologist) and Charity Rowland (psychologist).

Point of Care Lab

The Biomedical Engineering Point-of-Care lab at OHSU provides the "technology arm" for ORCATECH.

SPRY Learning

SPRY Learning is developing computer-based learning curricula for seniors living in residence centers. Their software helps adults reduce their risk for Alzheimer's disease and other forms of cognitive decline.
